ESL maintains contact and network in all its service areas to ensure timely arrangement of shipments. In situations where your suppliers encounter difficulty and bring to your attention issues like:

  • Your cargo is ready but difficulty in getting in finding ESL's local service agents to arranges shipment,
  • Your suppliers have no idea how to reach ESL,
  • Availability of container and schedule etc.
  • any other difficulty affecting timely loading of your cargo Consignee are strongly advised to contact ESL on first instance of receiving such notice to enable us take action in time.

 

NEED TO KNOW ISSUES ABOUT PORT OF DISCHARGE

Arrival Notification

  • Cargo arrival notifications are issued based on the consignees addresses provided in the Bills of Lading in order to enable us serve you with quick & timely cargo Arrival Notification consignees need to make sure that their true and correct and full address is inserted in the B/L.

Port Regulations

  • All goods for Ethiopia are accepted on transit basis and amount of storage period allowed is limited to a maximum of 6 months. If consignees fail to clear their cargo timely, the port has the liberty to auction the unclear goods.
  • Especially hazardous cargos classified as IMCO or dangerous are required to be moved out of the port without delay upon arrival.
  • Any delay beyond allowed 15 days limit shall entail penalty.
  • Direct Delivery Cargo are goods that have to be discharged from ship on to trucks for direct transport to final destinations.
  • Consignees need to make pre-hand preparation to clear their direct delivery cargo to avoid extra cost of ship delay demurrage charges.
